In the beginning there were only two.
Two spirits, two powers with neither form nor function. Over time they became aware. They became intelligent. They became the first gods, named in later years as the mad twins. For with nothing to see or hear, touch or feel, sense or experience besides each other how can sanity remain. Though sanity is a human concept and applying human concepts to beings such as these is, in itself, insane. Eventually the two began to create, first light and dark then the stars and the planets.&nb

The old man looked out over his hall. Once filled with the joyous sounds of feast now only filled with the echo of his heavy footfalls. Where once friends, family and heroes sat around the long tables now only the ghosts of their memories filled the benches. There were no more great feast, his hall was empty. Old faces had vanished and even their memories had begun to die. The old man felt a loneliness he had never felt in all his long years. He sat in the great throne at the mead of his hall and remembered.&

The sun beat down, but that was normal at noon. The hard red ground boiled as the merciless light heated the scorched earth. There were no shadows to be found on the one street through my sleepy little town. A soft wind blew but it did nothing to relieve the heat and just kicked dust into the throat of anyone stupid enough to be outside. Most sane people were inside, mainly in the saloon downing a drink or twenty. Out in the boiling air the only sound was a distant roar that gradually built to a crescendo as a black motorcycle pulled up on the road outside. D
